Do you provide copywriting services in all languages?

We currently provide copywriting services in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Dutch, and are expanding our teams all the time.

What’s the difference between copywriting and content writing?

For us, the difference between copy and content is its purpose. If you’re looking to inspire, inform or convert your customers with brand claims, newsletters or product descriptions, we call it copywriting. If you’re looking to raise brand awareness through social media or engage your subscribers with blog articles, we call it content.

What if I don’t like the copy I receive?

We’re with you all the way from concept to final copy, so if you don’t like the first draft you receive, don’t worry! It gives us the opportunity to revisit the brief, and have another go at a text that will knock your socks off.

Is your content written by humans?

AI is coming. But for now, all of our copy, content, and translations are written by humans. Technology may play a role in our research or early drafts, but all of our words are 100% human.

Do you provide SEO research or keywording services?

While we’re not SEO experts, our texts work hard to make sure you index against your preferred terms. And if you’re looking to build a keyword strategy, we can also put you in touch with trusted SEO marketing specialists.

What kind of content do you write?

Translation & Localisation

What is marketing translation?

Marketing translation covers pretty much everything, doesn’t it. Except for instruction booklets, car manuals and legal contracts, perhaps. It’s customer-centric translation where we put your customers first, and say it with style.

What makes your translators different to other translators?

Our translators are marketing specialists, who know the power of native-sounding translations, and have the creative confidence to excise a snippet from the original that makes a translation sound clumsy, or to bring in a humorous play on words or to recreate a local, cultural reference. And because our translators are specialists working on marketing translations all day every day, they don’t have to switch styles from one to another.

What is creative translation?

Creative translation is the confidence to edit a translation to make it sound better, to change the syntax of a sentence to make it sound more native, or to enhance a piece of content with a writerly flourish.

What is transcreation?

Transcreation isn’t so much different from creative translation, only that transcreation purposefully excludes a more direct translation. Here at WeWrite, we prefer creative translation, as it gives us the freedom to choose when a sentence is suitable for transcreation or when a 1:1 translation might be the better option.

What languages do you translate into?

While we specialise in European languages, our roster of languages and our teams of translators are growing all the time. Just get in contact to find out more.

Will I have dedicated translators?

While we can’t guarantee you’ll always have the same translators, it makes sense all round to have a small team of dedicated translators and reviewers for each of our clients, who we provide with trainings and in-depth briefings.

What’s the turnaround time for a translation?

That’s a very good question. For short translations (up to 1000 words), we prefer to have at least 48 hours for translation and review. For longer translations of 1000 words or more, we usually estimate 2000 words a day. But for even longer translations, we can share these between more than one translator.

I need my translation more urgently than that. Do you provide a priority service?

We work with a large pool of freelance translators, so we’ll often be able to find an expert linguist to take care of any urgent translations.

Do urgent translations cost extra?

No. Because emergency translations are subject to the same rigorous standards as all of our translations, we don’t charge extra for urgent requests. Should your request fall under 500 words however, our standard hourly rate applies.

What’s your translation process?

Here at WeWrite, we have a tried and tested process where includes a text analysis, translator briefing, translation by a native marketing specialist, proofreading for spelling and grammar, as well as in-context and consistency reviews where we match the translation against brand voice and style and our term base.

Can you work with slideshows, pdfs, html files or e-commerce platforms?

Yes, we can! Just let us know what you need, and our team can extract your texts and implement your shiny new translations into just the same formats as we found them in.

What’s the difference between marketing translation and website localisation?

All of our translators and reviewers provide creative translations for both marketing and website copy. But not all the fields on your website are the same – marketing translation may require a long, hard and creative brainstorming. While for website localisation, we might work within your e-commerce, content or translation management platform, and the focus might be on consistency over multiple languages. Our rates for both styles of translation are the same, so let’s not quibble over what we call it. (Even if that is one of our favourite things!)

How can I make sure our brand style and tone of voice isn’t lost in translation?

Whatever your brand persona, we work hard to understand your tone of voice and style. It’s not always possible to create wordplay and humour in the same places, but by understanding how you write, we can find creative solutions in other places to reflect the uniqueness of your brand.

How do you make sure translations are consistent with our brand terms?

From your first translation with us, we create both a style guide and a term base that grows with every translation. We’re constantly adding to it, so that we can be consistent with how we’ve phrased things in the past, and across all translations.

What is localisation?

Localisation takes place within an online translation or localisation platform, allowing translations to be added by humans (or machines) and ported back to a website within seconds. It can also be known as L10n (Localisation) or G11n (Globalisation).

Can you translate terms and conditions too?

Yes, we can. WeWrite provides an end-to-end service for all the words on your website – from writing brand claims to translating terms and conditions and much more inbetween.

Do you translate apps too?

Yes, we apply our same creative and rigorous approach to translating apps too.
